Prep

Pre-Prep is housed in the Foundation Stage area at the front of the school, allowing free flow between it and Reception. The groups are sessional and parents can opt for between 3 and 5 sessions. These may be morning or all day sessions. Morning sessions run from 8.55am-12.00, all day sessions run until 3.30 although there is the possibility of a later stay is required. We ask parents who choose the all day option to provide a healthy packed lunch. The children follow the Foundation stage whilst our staff are also preparing them for transition into the main school. Pre-Prep is a well resourced, stimulating environment for children to begin their school journey and our dedicated staff work hard to ensure that every child has the best start possible.

Here we provide a happy, relaxed atmosphere in which we aim to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding laid down in the EYFS Foundation Stage published by the QCA.

There are 7 areas of learning

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED)
  • Communication and Language (CL)
  • Physical Development (PD)
  • Knowledge and Understanding of the World (UW)
  • Literacy (Reading and Writing)
  • Mathematics (M)
  • Expressive arts and design (EAD)

Because we are active members of the local Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership, parents are entitled to a nursery education grant termly, and the setting is regularly inspected and reported upon by ISI.

The Pre-Prep morning children enjoy the same break time as the Infants, and join in other activities such as Sports Day, as appropriate.

In the early stages of Foundation education, parents are welcome to spend time helping their children to settle, thereby strengthening the bond between family, child and school.
